Meet Councillor Martin Reid

Elected to Council for the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel in 2022, I am proud to serve the community that raised me. Ward 9 is home—and Ward 9 is where my focus is every day.

Growing up here shaped who I am. Local schools, local friendships, and a strong sense of community led me to pursue Social Work at the University of Waterloo, followed by a Master’s of Divinity in Marriage and Family Counselling at Tyndale University.

Service has always been at the core of my work—from frontline support with The Salvation Army, to housing leadership in Meadowvale, and building a wellness business focused on helping individuals and families thrive.

In 2020, I had the opportunity to serve on Mayor Bonnie Crombie’s Black Caucus, working to advance equity and address systemic barriers across our city. That experience reinforced a simple belief: representation matters—and action delivers results.

Mentorship from former Councillor Pat Saito helped shape how I lead today: Support. Amplify. Connect.

Serving our community is what drives me—bringing people together, delivering results, and building a stronger Ward 9.

“It has been the honour of my life to serve Ward 9. And we’re not done. There is more to do to ensure the next generation chooses this community to live, grow, and raise their families.”

Martin lives in Ward 9 with his wife, Alexandra, and is the proud father of two sons and two stepchildren.
