Meet Councillor Martin Reid

Martin Reid was elected to Mississauga City Council and the Region of Peel on October 24, 2022. A lifelong Meadowvale resident, his roots in Ward 9 go back to 1977. He grew up in the community, attending Settler’s Green Public School, Edenwood Middle School, and Meadowvale Secondary School.

With a degree in Social Work from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Divinity in Marriage and Family Counselling from Tyndale University, Martin has built his career around service. From frontline work with the Toronto Salvation Army to serving as Housing Coordinator at The Dam, he has consistently focused on supporting people and strengthening community.

Before stepping into office, Martin was mentored by longtime Councillor Pat Saito. That experience shaped his approach to leadership: take action, support residents, amplify community voices, and connect neighbours. Today, that mission drives his work—Support. Amplify. Connect.

“It has been the honour of my life to serve Ward 9. And we’re not done. There is more to do to ensure the next generation chooses this community to live, grow, and raise their families.”

Martin lives in Ward 9 with his wife, Alexandra, and is the proud father of two sons and two stepchildren.
